CAT RULES



All cats must be brought to the fair in approved cages and remain in cage at all times unless otherwise requested by the judge. It is the responsibility of the 4-H member to ensure the animals’ health and welfare while at the fair. Cat showmanship will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 13 under the grandstands.

  • 1. Senior cat showman ship - Age 14 and over as of October 1 of the current 4-H year.
  • 2. Junior cat showmanship - under are 14 as of October 1 of the current 4-H year.
  • 3. Novice cat showman ship - showing cat for the first time, regardless of age. (optional)
  • 4. Educational display (no live animals)
  • 5. Exhibitor will bring cat to interview judging on Wednesday, August 13 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Judging will take place in the 4-H Building. Cat must be removed that day.

All pocket pets must be confined to an escape proof cage suitable for that particular species. It is the responsibility of the of the 4-H member to ensure the animal’s health and welfare while at the fair. Pet must removed following judging.

Youth who turn 6, 7 or 8 years of age within the 4-H Program year (October 1, 2007 – September 30, 2008) may join 4-H Cloverbuds. When youth turn 9 within the 4-H year, they may join as a “full fledged” 4-H member.

First year Cloverbud members regardless of age 6, 7 or 8 may only enroll in the Cloverbud project. A Cloverbud member must turn six (6) within the 4-H year October 1, 2007 –September 30, 2008.

Second year Cloverbud members may enroll in the Cloverbud project and (with parental and organizational leader approval), may also enroll in one of these additional 4-H projects: Archery, Beginning Foods, Cat, Gardening, Poultry, Pocket Pets, Rabbits, Horseless Horse or Discovering 4-H.
