  • 1. Market swine must be in members’ possession by May 18, 2008
  • 2. Preferred age of market hog is 5-6 months at Fair time.
  • 3. It is very important to clean your animal's ears with a damp cloth before the show. Also clean their feet and faces. You can wash your pig with Woolite or a mild soap. Use a soft brush to clean pig. After cleaning, rub vegetable oil on your hands, then on the pig.
  • 4. A cane or bat is optional, a show board will not be allowed for use by swine members. The show boards will be used by show-ring adults only.
  • 5. It is recommended that breeding swine not be brought to the fair.
  • 6. A member must finish the required activities and learning experiences for each “Skills for Life” project level. Manuals and record sheets are due into your organizational leader on or before September 2. If you do not submit your manual it will result in the member not being able to take a market animal the next 4-H year.
  • 7. Poster for project to be entered under Class 28.
  • 8. By fair time all market livestock members are required to be certified in the Livestock Quality Assurance Program which was adopted in 2002. If you fail to certify, you are not eligible to bring your market livestock to the Chouteau County Fair.
  • 9. Market swine maximum weight is 300 pounds. The 4-H member will not be paid for pounds above 300.
