MONTANA HEREFORD ASSOCIATION AWARDS
- Grand Champion Steer The Montana Hereford Association, 143 Muddy Loop Road, Plentywood, MT. 59254, will award a Hereford Wind Breaker jacket to a county or multi-county Grand Champion Steer of the live show if properly documented as a Hereford.
- Top Steer of Merit The Montana Hereford Association, 143 Muddy Loop Road, Plentywood, MT. 59254, will award a Hereford Wind Breaker jacket to a county or multi-county Top Steer of Merit or equivalent (i.e. in counties using ultrasound rather than actual plant measurements) if properly documented as being at least 50% Hereford ancestry.
- Supreme Champion Female The Montana Hereford Association, 143 Muddy Loop Road, Plentywood, MT. 59254, will award a Hereford Wind Breaker jacket to a county or multi-county Supreme Champion Female (over all breeds and ages showing) if documented as being a purebred Hereford.
- Champion Hereford Steer or Female The Montana Hereford Association, 143 Muddy Loop Road, Plentywood, MT. 59254, will award a Certificate of Achievement to a county or multi-county Champion Hereford Steer or Female if documented as being Hereford. Award winners will be notified or and be invited to the annual Montana Hereford Association and Beef Bash held in conjunction with the Montana Stockgrowers Convention in Billings in December. Awards will be shipped to those not able to attend.
MONTANA ANGUS ASSOCIATION AWARDS
- Black Angus Breeding project award. (The Montana Angus Association is offering a jacket award to a winning 4-H or FFA member with a purebred Black Angus, registered or commercial. Winner must have competed against 3 other exhibitors, not necessarily Black Angus. Qualifying breeding projects include: Cow/calf pairs; yearling bred heifers; heifer calves and bulls.
MONTANA ANGUS AUXILIARY AWARD
- OUTSTANDING Black Angus breeding project award. The Montana Angus Auxiliary will sponsor a trophy, and Angus Belt Buckle to the outstanding junior fair exhibitor, (junior meaning anyone under the age of 21 years). The animal must win a blue ribbon in the show. Quality of exhibitors project, number of animals exhibited, and completed record system will be taken into consideration for this award. STEERS WILL NO LONGER BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS AWARD.
MONTANA RED ANGUS ASSOCIATION
- The Montana Red Angus Association will award to any champion or reserve champion Red Angus Steer a Montana Silversmith Belt Buckle. They must be named champion or reserve champion at a COUNTY fair.
- Red Angus steers are to be progeny of a registered Red Angus Bull or out of a registered Red Angus Cow. This does not mean they are registered, but does give us a blood percentage.
Fair boards or the winners must contact Esther Fischer to verify the criteria and get the buckles. If there are any questions call or e-mail Mrs. Fischer.
MONTAN GELBVIEH ASSOCIATION YOUTH CASH AWARDS
- The Montana Gelvieh Association will pay $10.00 to any 4-H or FFA exhibitor who receives a blue ribbon on their Gelbvieh or Gelbvieh-cross animal exhibited at a county or state fair in Montana. All phases of competition are eligible, i.e. carcass, live steer, weight gain, and breeding animals. Showmanship is not eligible in addition to the $10.00 for a blue ribbon, grand and reserve champion animals, where competing in a minimum group of 5, will receive $25.00 and $15.00 respectively.
MONTANA SIMMENTAL ASSOCIATION AWARD
- The Montana Simmental Association will give an award (possibly a jacket) for the Grand Champion Steer, Grand Champion Carcass and Grand Champion Female for 4-H or FFA, if the animal is identified on their stall or barn card as being Simmental or Simmental cross.
