Breeding animal members may do a 4’X4’ optional (no longer required) open display board pertaining to the industry. The board will be taken to interview judging on Wednesday, August 13th from 1:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Board will be judged under class 28 posters.

SHEEP RULES:

1. Breeding age will be determined by teeth.

2. Market sheep must be in members’ possession by June 22, 2008.

3. Market sheep will be shown with a slick-shorn coat; slick shearing will take place at the fair.

4. A member must finish the required activities and learning experiences for each “Skills for Life” project level. Manuals and record sheets are due into your organizational leader on or before September 2, 2008. If you do not submit your manual it will result in the member not being able to take a market animal the next 4-H year.

5. Sheep can be washed anytime but can not be wet for judging or weighing. If you wash your sheep, Woolite soap is recommended, and if possible, use warm, not hot or cold water. You will want to use some carding combs on your sheep.

6. Poster for project to be entered under Class 28.

7. All sheep at the fair will be ear-tagged with an official Scapie ear-tag. These are to be supplied by your producer at the time of your purchase of the animal.

8. By fair time all market livestock members are required to be certified in the Livestock Quality Assurance Program which was adopted in 2002. If you fail to certify, you are not eligible to bring your market livestock to the Chouteau County Fair.
